Welcome

Our school

“You can’t teach people things, all you can do is help them to acquire that knowledge.” Galileo Galilei

We consider our school to be primarily an institute which projects culture through the help of the educational and development work which takes place here.

For us culture means the following:
  • Knowledge which can be both learnt and put into practice,
  • emotional development,
  • social awareness and solidarity,
  • behavioural culture,
  • the balance between classical, scientific and technical knowledge.

At the same time, we also believe that culture is a living and changing process, represented by every subject and in which student and teacher have an equal interest in the desire to learn and the desire to impart knowledge. This type of equality requires respect for others and for the environment itself. Everybody in the school feels comfortable within this positive emotional atmosphere, and this leads to the optimal development of the students’ personalities.

The aims of our school are:

  • For intelligent affection to be impressed on the children in everything that we do, both in the areas of education and development.
  • To see, show and develop the values of each child’s personality.
  • For our students to acquire all those communication skills, in addition to material knowledge, with which they will be able to use that knowledge both for themselves and others.
  • To develop self-confidence, measured levels of demands and fortitude and a competitive spirit, in the interest of nurturing talent, while also paying attention to helpfulness and the ability to cooperate.
  • To develop in the children, primarily by example, tolerance, empathy, and the respect of others human rights.
  • For each student to be able to continue their studies in any secondary school after their 8 years with us, and for as many students as possible to continue in further education after matriculation.
  • To cooperate with parents to such an extent that both school and parents feel that they have the same goals and interests.

Our objective:

The objective of our bi-lingual education system is for communicating, exchanging information and reading in a foreign language to be a pleasure for our students.

Special bi-lingual teaching programme:

Our primary school provides a bi-lingual foreign language programme (English and German) at a very early stage.

The language foundations:

  • 5 language lessons a week.
  • We teach 3 subjects in the given language.
  • Languages are taught by highly-trained language teachers, who are helped by native-speaking language assistants (German and English native-speakers).

Tradition:

Our school was founded in 1867. Since the 2002-2003 school year teaching has taken place in a state-of-the-art building. In addition to their own form rooms, students can also take advantage of the sports hall, computer rooms, library, language labs, teaching kitchen, chemistry/physics lecture theatre, and other language aids.
